Advanced Supply Chain – A Success Story

Introducing Advanced Supply Chain to Zebra’s made-to-order mobile workstations, this modern solution is designed to power a whole shift boasting a long-life Lithium-Ion battery with visual display and charge indicator. Slashing the time to recharge to just an hour and a half, replacing the legacy workstations with the Zebra solution would eradicate the need to buy multiple batteries and save on electricity too.

A fully customisable solution, we defined Advanced Supply Chain’s exact workstation design through a collaborative process, working closely to understand the small details that would make a big difference. Key to this was the loan of a standard specification Zebra mobile workstation.

Used by the team for a couple of shifts, they were able to better understand their needs and what would work best for the business. Everything from the width of the aisle to the height range across colleagues was considered. Testing the demo workstation allowed them to properly assess what work surface height would be best for their team. Deciding to raise the height slightly, a tilting monitor was also added to ensure comfort for shorter team members.

We found ways to make ergonomic improvements based on the usage environment to best utilise the available space such as changes to the shape, workstation orientation and worksurface angle. To ensure maximum usability, a bin was required, and built-in shelves added extra storage for a tidier solution.

Having had issues with the wheels of the legacy solution not getting enough traction on their floors, we even sourced specific rubber wheels to get the best performance and gave greater control by specifying which wheels should be swivel and fixed castor wheels.
